Title: 5 studio lofts
Program: Residential
Category: Housing, row of 5 studio lofts
Year: 2005
In collaboration with: Rok Klanjšček
Five studios were an experiment in building typology (it merges living with working), use of materials (steel cladding, structural façade) and creation of communal atmosphere. The row of individual studios were designed as homes with small private garden on the western side and a large communal garden on the east. The entrance garden is a protected space for encounters with neighbors and serves as a quality transition from public space to the intimacy of one’s home. The wellcoming feel of the entrances is emphasized with large eaves and wooden façade and is in stark contrast with rough esthetics of black metal envelope.
