Golden house is a reconstruction of a typical house in Slovene suburban/semirural environment. Existing house with several additions was left more or less structurally untouched. The interior was “cleansed” and left open as much as possible, the exterior was simply wrapped in another, this time precious skin. The envelope is placed on a certain distance from existing façade, following the outermost lines of existing eaves and forming this way irregular, diamond like shape of the whole volume. Second skin of the house provides, beside notable cooling effect, interesting play of shadows and vistas both from outside and inside. Lamelled facade is a tribute to the horizontal structural logic of the hayracks of the nearby farms and golden colour of the corn fields around the house.
